Picking a Mattress: Motion Separation for Toss and Turners

Eric is here with what to look for when buying a mattress. The big thing that you should consider before buying a mattress is motion separation. This is referring to the amount of vibration that spreads throughout the mattress. This is crucial when you sleep with a partner. You and your partner will move around or literally jump into bed, motion separation can determine if you can feel it and potentially wake you up. There are three types of motion separation that Eric talks about today. Take a look at the differences and determine which one is best for you.

Innerspring- This is the traditional type of mattress. There is movement throughout the mattress. The coil springs are hand-tied together making them move together.

You can check out our innerspring mattresses here.

Hybrid Technology- This type of mattress uses coils still, but the individual coils are pocketed meaning that they are separated and are not tied together. This allows the coils to move separately making the motion separation better in the sense that you won't feel your partner jumping into bed as much.On the top layer, you will have memory foam for comfort and support.

Check out our hybrid mattresses here.

Tempurpedic Technology- This option does not have any coils at all in the inside of the mattress. This type of mattress just has memory foam. When having just memory foam, the motion separation is the highest it can get and you practically cannot feel other vibrations that come from different corners or sides of the bed.

Take a look at the Tempurpedic mattresses here.

The only way to know which mattress is best for you is to stop by one of our stores and take a mattress test to see which one will be perfect for your next bed!
