Front Oven Controls Vs. Back-splash Controls

One fact about buying new ranges that tends to get over looked is that having front oven controls directly on the front of the oven can be DANGEROUS. Why is that exactly? Well, if you have have kids, controls on the FRONT of the oven are easily accessible to a toddler or small child. The thought that your child could play with the knobs and turn on a gas stove by accident is obviously unsettling. While most ranges have to ability to "lock" controls, this only locks the touch panel controls, not the knob controls.
This is the reason Keith defends back-splash controls. I can imagine this is only an issue for households that do have kids running around. If you don't, then maybe the front controls are a nice touch you like to have personally!
